| South West College, InnoTech Centre, has recently received notification about a new DEL funding training initiative currently on offer which applies to businesses outside of the Public Sector, including Charities and Social Enterprises, if they have a profit making side to the organisation - i.e. if they act like a business.
This new training initiative is to assist businesses with the up-skilling and re-skilling of staff. South West College would be the provider of the training unless the business/organisation can identify another fully accredited provider of training. Funding for training is on a first come, first served basis.
The important benefits of this initiative are:
a. The opportunity to Up-skill – this will enable employees who, for example, have a Level 2 qualification or equivalent to achieve a Level 3 or higher qualification in a related or new area. This Up-skilling is 100% funded by DEL @ Levels 2 & 3, and 50% funded by DEL from Levels 4 – 8 for small to medium sized enterprises (1 – 50 employees)
b. The opportunity to Re-skill – this will enable employees who have an already existing qualification to re-skill in another area at a lower level or on par with the existing qualification. Re-skilling is 25% funded by DEL @ Levels 2 & 3 for small to medium sized enterprises (1 – 50 employees), and medium to large sized enterprises (51 – 250 employees).
c. The funding available – the funding package which DEL will provide will be determined by DEL following an analysis of the Customised Skills Proposal Form provided.
