Anti Poverty and Social Exclusion Rural Challenge Programme

Monday, 14 September 2009

Applications are invited from community and voluntary organisations, under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Anti Poverty and Social Exclusion Rural Challenge Programme.  Applications will be accepted for projects that assist in tackling poverty and social exclusion within rural communities.
All funded activity must be completed by 31 March 2011.  The maximum amount of funding that can be awarded is £5,000 to a community/voluntary organisation.  Applicants should note that as funds are limited this is a competitive process.
The Rural Challenge Programme involves an application form and compulsory attendance at a Best Practice Workshop.

Applications to the Programme will be welcomed from voluntary and community based organisations who must at the time of application, have a formal constitution or set of rules and a specific bank account.  The Programme is administered from Rural Development Division, 21 Hospital Road, Omagh, County Tyrone.

You must register for an application form with RDD Omagh before registering to attend a Best Practice workshop.

Application packs are available and can be obtained by contacting RDD Omagh on 028 8224 7727 or emailing rural.challengeprogramme@dardni.gov.uk.  The deadline for receipt of completed applications is 5pm on 30 October 2009.

The Best Practice workshops will assist applicants in identifying the poverty and exclusion issues in their area, the people affected and the most suitable responses required for each local area.

There are two local workshops in Fermanagh on Thursday 17 September 2009 from 10am to 1pm in the Share Centre, Lisnaskea and on Thursday 15 October 2009 from 7pm to 10pm in the Arc Centre, Irvinestown.

The Best Practice Workshops will be delivered by the Rural Development Council (RDC).  In order to be eligible to make an application you must register and attend one of the workshops. You may attend any of the workshops and you are not restricted by County.

To register and secure your place please contact Samantha or Kerry at RDC on 028 8676 6980 at least 4 working days in advance of your chosen workshop.
