Exhibition of Chinese prints at the Higher Bridges Gallery, Clinton Centre

Thursday, 23 June 2005

Mandarin Speakers Association (MSA), an independent charity organisation for the Chinese community in Northern Ireland, will exhibit a plethora of exemplary Chinese artwork due to take place at the Higher Bridges Gallery from Tuesday 21st June 2005 at 7 – 9pm (Exhibition continues to the 1st July 2005).

The exhibition, entitled Ode to the Black Earth, will contain over 50 prints from the Heilongjiang province in the North East of P.R. China.  This region is famed for its influential printmaking techniques, especially in the development of China’s popular wood cut.  While the exhibition will feature work from three generations of artists, ensuring both traditional and contemporary styles are represented, each piece will no doubt possess Heilongjiang’s renowned lyrical quality.

Heilongjiang Painting

MSA is delighted to introduce professional Chinese artwork to Northern Ireland, and particularly pleased that this is the first time a Western country has devoted an entire exhibition to Heilongjiang printmaking.
