Happy Days International Beckett Festival Official Launch

The official festival launch of the Happy Days International Beckett Festival is taking place today Thursday, 23 August 2012. It kicks off at Portora Royal School, Enniskillen, then onwards and beyond to the festival centre at Enniskillen Castle.

The itinerary for the opening night is as follows:

5.15pm - 5.30pm
Arrival for celebrations to begin at Portora Royal School with the viewing of
Festival exhibitions.

5.45pm
The Official launch of the Festival in the Entrance Hall Gallery, Portora Royal School.

6.20pm
Guests to travel to the Festival Centre at Enniskillen Castle and join the public celebrations of Happy Days.

6.55pm
The Smeraldina Cruiser will depart Enniskillen Castle with guests attending the Official Opening Event, Edna O’Brien in conversation with William Crawley taking place at 7.30pm in the Ardhowen Theatre.

8.40pm
The Smeraldina will return our Ardhowen guests to Enniskillen Castle on the island town, to join the Opening Concert by Llÿr Williams (piano) playing the Beethoven Moonlight Sonata twice. The concert will last approximately 30mins.

9.30pm
All guests will congregate at The Festival Club at Blakes of the Hollow, where the world’s first annual multi-arts Beckett Festival will be officially launched.

Other events which will be taking place at 7.30pm include:

  • Adrian Dunbar launching the outdoor Beckett Chess Set at the Festival Centre (Enniskillen Castle, admission is free), and
  • Josh Howie at Miss Fitt’s Comedy House at Blakes of the Hollow (Admission is £7).
