New and exciting things are happening in the county town this summer. The Happy Days Enniskillen International Beckett Festival has arrived in Enniskillen and is unpacking all kinds of literary, artistic, musical, comedic, sporting and dramatic delights for us to enjoy.
As the Festival Centre, Enniskillen Castle Museums has a few extra delights for the festival, as well as the Castle’s annual free Family Fun Day on Bank Holiday Monday, 27 August 2012.
One delight was herded into place on Monday, as Northern Ireland Tourist Board’s (NITB) famous ‘Cow Parade’ arrived in the castle courtyard.
The colourful fiberglass, art cows will bring an extra element of bovine fun! The Cow Parade is the largest and most popular public art event in the world. Having taken place in more than 50 host cities worldwide over a ten year period, it is estimated that over 100 million people around the world have seen one of the famous cows.
To celebrate the Cow Parade’s first time in Northern Ireland and the momentous year of NI 2012, NITB went to the cattle market and bought a NI 2012 herd of three Large Cows and one Mini Moo. Visitors to the castle over the Festival and Family Fun Day will have a chance to get their photos taken with these unique bovines, which are guaranteed not to run away!
Some of the other treats to enjoy next Monday at the free Family Fun Day from 2.00pm – 5.00pm include:
- Cinema North West showing short film snippets
- Craft workshops
- Drumming workshops
- Puppet shows
- Children’s entertainers
- Bouncy castles
