Council plays a key role in the 2012 Fermanagh County Show
Wednesday, 01 August 2012
This year’s Fermanagh County Show is taking place on Tuesday, 7 and Wednesday, 8 August 2012 offering the traditional entertainment mix of livestock, food, cookery and family entertainment.
This year, as well as the traditional sections, classes or displays, there will be a large selection of fun Fermanagh District Council displays with activities for all the family.
Fun filled family activities include Fossil Making, Fossil Rubbing and Wild about Wildlife activities which have been organised by the staff of the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark.
Other stands not to be missed include the Enniskillen Castle Museums’ living history demonstration and a chance to browse through film footage of the past, with Northern Ireland Screen’s digital film archive.
Environmental Health will hold a Food Hygiene exhibition promoting the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, which gives ratings for all local food outlets, and a ‘Hand Washing for Children’ activity. There will also be a competition open to everyone with various prizes.
Other Environmental Health stands will include ‘Consumer Protection and Home Safety’ which will be providing advice to young and old alike and can be found inside the main building, and ‘Responsible Dogs Ownership’ which will offer advice on dog fouling, microchipping and other dog ownership related issues. It is located near the judging rings.
Technical Services will have the large Waste Discovery Truck (pictured) on display for the duration of the show. Throughout the two days there will be Technical Services representatives on hand to answer any queries you have regarding recycling and waste disposal in Fermanagh. There will also be free advice and guidance on recycling at home, in work and in schools.
Get in touch with your environmental side by entering our free prize draw with the chance to win a Wormery or a Tumbling Composter. All you need to do is drop in at the Waste Discovery Truck and Recycling Stand and fill out an entry form. The Waste Discovery Truck will be located outside in the hardcore area.
Other Council departments that will be in attendance include Biodiversity, Environment and Community Development. There will also be a number of Community and Voluntary groups in attendance including:
The Aisling Centre
Fermanagh Rural Community Network
Nexus
