The Council will be hosting a cookery demonstration on Tuesday, 12 June 2012 encouraging local food shoppers to cut down on food waste.
The demonstration will be taking place at the main entrance of Erneside Shopping Centre, from 11.00am until 3.00pm.
Fermanagh District Council will be hosting the cookery demonstration in conjunction with Safe Food and The Food Standards Agency. It will be based on the Department of the Environment’s ‘Love Food, Hate Waste’ initiative.
Research from Safe Food revealed that households could save up to £480 per year by reducing the amount of food that is thrown out.
To make these savings householders simply need to plan their shopping ahead of time, check ‘use by’ dates and use leftovers.
The demonstration will not only promote good hygiene habits, but it will also show shoppers how to get the most out of their leftovers.
Free recipe cards will also be distributed at the event.
