A nature walk in the Claddagh Glen. This beautiful woodland setting gives children the opportunity to look at the variety of living creatures. They can arrange them according to observable features, and use the senses in the environment to look at how we can take care of trees, plants, flowers and animals.

KS2 Our World – “A Walk on the Wild Side”

A Walk on the Wild Side looks at the local habitat of the Claddagh Glen and compares it to other habitats. Suzie the squirrel hops through the trees and explains the main stages of the life cycle. With Suzie's firends including Olivia and Sean we look for mini-beasts in the woodland. Time: 1 hour

A trail of the landscape features of the Legnabrocky limestone grasslands. Use of a workbook to answer questions about the landscape features, primary, secondary and tertiary industry, tourism and complete some map work. Ordnance survey map extract provided for each student.

KS3 Processes and Challenges, Limestone Trail (Basic preparation for GCSE)
A tour of the limestone trail on the lower slopes of Cuilcagh Mountain, looking at the limestone features e.g. shakeholes and limestone pavement including clints and grykes. Reference will be made to the peatland ecosystem on Cuilcagh Mountain and the impact of peat removal on Marble Arch Caves.

KS4 Processes and Challenges, Limestone Trail (GCSE)

A tour of the limestone trail on the lower slopes of Cuilcagh Mountain, looking at the limestone features e.g. shakeholes and limestone pavement including clints and grykes. Reference will be made to the peatland ecosystem on Cuilcagh Mountain and the impact of peat removal on Marble Arch Caves. Video material provided at the visitor center (20 minutes). Workbook provided – annotated sketches, photographic material, OS extracts and more! This trail can also include vegetation comparisons on the blanket bog.
