| Hairdressing
If you operate as a hairdresser in Northern Ireland, you must be registered with your local District Council.
When you make an application your business will be placed on a Register and a Certificate issued. There is no approval process.
Fermanagh District Council has made Bye-Laws in respect of the Hairdressers Act (Northern Ireland) 1939.
Fee
There is no fee for registering a Hairdressing business.

Yes. A Hairdressing Registration Certificate will be issued within 2 months of receipt of the application.

If a registered Hairdresser is convicted of an offence in a Magistrate's Court and the Court cancels the registration, the Hairdresser may appeal against the cancellation to the Court they were convicted in.
Complaints
In the event of a complaint the first contact can be made with the District Council. Alternatively, in the UK, Citizens advice bureau will give you advice. From outside the UK contact the UK European Consumer Centre.

A register of Hairdressers can be provided on request.

Under the Data Protection Act, Fermanagh District Council has a legal duty to protect any information we collect about you. It will not be disclosed to any third party unless law or regulation compel such disclosure or unless we have been specifically asked to do so in order to deliver a service which you have requested.
