Bats are a ‘protected species’. For advice you should contact the Northern Ireland Bat Group at the Ulster Museum. Telephone 028 9038 3000.

Cats are classed as semi-wild animals and are not controlled by legislation. If a cat is injured or in danger the USPCA can be contacted at (028) 9081 4242.

The Council has no responsibility for the payment of any housing grants. All housing grants are paid by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. In cases where private tenanted properties have defects which are considered prejudicial to health e.g. dampness, the Council can serve a Public Health Abatement Notice and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive will pay small amounts of grant aid on completion of repairs carried out to address the defects specified in the Public Health Abatement Notice. To apply for an inspection contact the Environmental Health Department (028) 6632 1805/5050.
