Meet the Buyer: A business opportunity for your business

Tuesday, 01 March 2011

Women in Agriculture Ltd, on behalf of The Public Health Agency, would like to invite you to a ‘Meet the buyer’ event for food producers and food processors in the agri-food sector in Northern Ireland and the Border Counties.

Monday 7th March @ 7.30pm
College of Food & Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) – Enniskillen Campus
(a light supper will be provided at 6.30pm)

The overall aim of this innovative event is to increase the proportion of fresh, sustainable and locally produced food procured by the Health Service onto the patient and staff menus. In order to achieve this aim the Western Health and Social Care Trust and the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust are seeking to secure food supply contracts with more local producers in a range of products.

A number of specific contracts are coming up for tender shortly:
·        Meat (Pork, Lamb, Beef & Poultry)
·        Chilled goods e.g. cheese & yoghurts
·        Fresh bread
·        Frozen foods

Where historically these types of tenders have been awarded to businesses on the basis of supplying the whole region, the Trusts are now in a position to consider awarding a number of smaller contracts for supply on a more localised basis. This approach fits with the findings of research carried out under the RAFAEL programme, which identified that local food is best especially for the young, the elderly and those who are ill.

If you are interested in attending please register with Women in Agriculture by telephone 028 6634 2996 or email info@womeninagriculture.com.

Please indicate the names of the attendees who wish to attend the event and supply a telephone number and/or email address so that you can be contacted with more details of the event and directions.

If you have any special requirements, eg parking, dietary, etc, please leave details when registering.

Should you have any specific query that you would like addressed at the event please email in advance to info@womeninagriculture.com so that it can be addressed.
