Fermanagh District Council strikes rate for 2006/2007 |

| At the Council Meeting on Monday 6th February 2006, Fermanagh District Council agreed the district rate for 2006/2007. Ratepayers in the Fermanagh District Council area will see a 6.2% increase in the District Rate element of their rates bills. Despite the increase, Fermanagh District Council's rates will continue to be the lowest rate in Northern Ireland in 2006/2007.
Domestic Ratepayers Fermanagh District Council's Domestic district rate for 2006/07 will be 119.80p, an increase of 6.2%. However central government have announced a massive 19% increase in the regional rate for Domestic ratepayers. The total rate payable by Domestic ratepayers is a combination of the District rate (6.2% increase) and the regional rate (19.0% increase), and as a result total rates bills will increase by 13.8% for the Domestic sector. In 2006/2007, 37.7% of the total rates paid by Domestic ratepayers will go to Fermanagh District Council for the provision of local services. The balance of 62.3% goes to central government to fund services such as Roads, Health and Education.
Non-Domestic Ratepayers Fermanagh District Council's Non-Domestic rate for 2007/07 will be 14.15p, an increase of 6.2%. Central government have announced a 3.3% increase in the non-domestic regional rate. The total rate payable by Non-Domestic ratepayers is a combination of the district rate and the regional rate, and as a result total rates bills will increase by 4.26% for the Non-Domestic sector in 2006/07. In 2006/07 33.4% of the total rate payable by Non-Domestic ratepayers will go to Fermanagh District Council. The remainder, 66.6%, goes to Central Government.
